I got a call from an automated voice claiming to be from the tax office, saying if I didn’t press 1, I’d get in trouble. So I pressed one and this Indian guy picked up. When I asked what it was all about, he just asked my name and then suddenly hung up. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

Got a call about an M&S washing machine, and the number looked almost exactly like mine, so I honestly thought it was legit. But seriously, no one in their right mind would hand over bank info to these lot. Total shady scammy behaviour, really unprofessional.

Loads of folks have said the same thing, they ring up quoting your postcode then just mutter something about a washing machine before hanging up quick. I reckon it’s just them checking if the number’s active and if you’re local, then they probably pass your details along to marketing companies.

When I told them the postcode wasn’t mine, they ended the call straight away. The postcode they mentioned is from a place I left more than a decade ago, so who knows where they got it? Definitely getting blocked!
