Sounds like a dodgy nuisance call or possibly a scam. Got a recorded message with an American accent from a UK number claiming to be HMRC, saying a letter was sent back and warning about looming court proceedings. Didn’t bother listening any longer and just ended the call. I know HMRC’s official number and they defo don’t ring you from a mobile or leave random recorded messages. If HMRC need to reach you, they’ll always send an actual letter, not some scripted American voice!
