Years ago, there was a one-off project registered on Alibaba under my mate’s name but linked to my phone number, and since then, I keep getting calls from people in Asia asking for him. Mostly, they call from places like Japan, China, or Hong Kong, but recently, someone rang me from a UK number. Occasionally, I stick around and chat, and they try to pitch this “investing in Asia” stuff. I'm pretty sure they’re using VoIP to keep switching numbers. Each time, I just block the new number straight away.
