TOTALLY POINTLESS Openreach! The person I got didn't even speak English properly, just wasting my time. Completely useless and totally clueless at their job! What a mess!

07786202608 I keep getting texts about my broadband at all hours, even in the middle of the night. Not really sure if it’s genuine, but getting messages at 3am is proper annoying.

I attempted to return a missed call from this number, but all I got was a message saying the number isn’t recognised. Seems like it might be a scam, to be honest.

Using the details on this page I looked up the number on the OpenReach site and it is definitely in their directory. It’s the day before I’m changing my broadband to a new provider, so it doesn’t seem too unusual. I didn’t get any notice from my new provider, Shell Energy, about an engineer coming round - I just figured they’d post the router and I’d set it up myself - so Shell Energy could’ve done a better job letting me know. But for now, it all looks genuine.

The OpenReach website does show this number is theirs, used when they’re setting up lines or switching providers. I was actually waiting for a call from them cause I’m switching my broadband right now, and the date they said matches when the change should happen. Still feels a bit strange how they do it, and plus, numbers can be faked these days.

This number kept popping up on my mobile without fail, each time I tried to make a call. It kept telling me I’d dialled an incorrect number, which was quite frankly infuriating! The only solution I found was to categorically block the number and erase every trace of it. What a right kerfuffle it was, really cluttering up my phone! It’s finally gone now, but there were some strange mentions of BT and the like. I’ve recently had Openreach install a new internet connection, but that’s a tale for another day-definitely left in a bit of a pickle! Cheers, PL.

I reckon it’s a scam, cause my network provider told me the engineer would visit and if I’m not home, they’ll charge me. So why is someone from this number asking for a confirmation now? Best to just ignore it.

They called again today. When I tried calling back, BT said the number was unknown and unrecognised? Im a bit baffled now! If it was Openreach, wouldnt BT have mentioned it? We are still waiting for our fibre upgrade, which was mentioned in the email this morning.

I must say, although you assert that it’s all above board, it really does leave me feeling utterly desolate. I’m not just grappling with financial hardship after losing my job due to the pandemic, but now I find myself without employment altogether. My only interactions are brief moments at the supermarket, and I’ve made desperate attempts to connect with the outside world, hoping that the internet might provide some opportunities for work, albeit slim ones. Yet here I am, faced with yet another hurdle that feels more like an impending doom than anything else. I once held a belief in a higher power, or at least I tried to, but given the way my family has treated me-abusive and neglectful in every conceivable manner-I’ve seen my faith erode. I no longer bother with prayers; for whom exactly would I pray? It feels like yet another injustice piled on top of the already overwhelming weight I’m carrying. You’re just making it all that much easier to surrender to despair.

I recently took a trip to my bank to terminate any agreements with companies that might have exploited my search for broadband services. It seems they were ringing me up, and you could clearly hear in the background the noise of what sounded like a call centre-trying to make it sound authentic. When I expressed my desire to cancel, they had the audacity to ring me back from a similar number. This time, it was a woman claiming she was there to handle my cancellation. They are genuinely a scam operation. It's far wiser to conduct any transactions face-to-face at a legitimate service office; phone calls are far too susceptible to spoofing. You could easily end up buried under a mountain of debt, while these scammers line their pockets. Honestly, it leaves me feeling as though there’s little left in this world for me to find joy or security in anymore.

TAKE IT FROM ME - should you find yourself in a situation where an "accident" occurs, whether it’s instigated by your family (for any number of reasons and labelled as an accident on your part or someone else’s) or a genuine mishap, brace yourself for how your kin might exploit your recovery for their own financial gain. It’s what mine did. If you only understood the extent to which they've derailed my existence while masquerading as my supposed "support" (all the while seething inside with rage and biting back laughter) just to further their own agenda, reaping benefits off my misfortune... you truly have no inkling.
4 years
It's hardly surprising they left themselves in such a dire state, those absolute wrong'uns! Unlike times gone by, my so-called siblings now seem utterly carefree, splashing cash left, right and centre, without a second thought. I swear, it’s as if they've been handed an all-access pass to indulge in whatever they fancy. And don't get me started on those at the local council - oh yes, they’ve woven quite the tangled web. Apparently, they instructed her on how to return what they deemed “excessive funds” after she pocketed a good slice of that dosh. That’s the way it is, isn’t it? "Family" picking favourites, determining who’s going to be the star victim of the show. They set you up, exploit you for every penny they can muster, all whilst pretending to be your supportive allies. It’s like being ensnared in a nightmarish game with their long, grasping fingers pulling the strings, leaving you feeling like little more than a puppet in their twisted performance. And honestly, for crying out loud-if there really were a divine power, my life would be a testament to the contrary!
4 years
I wouldn’t be surprised if, after I pulled the plug on the arrangement, my family went right back and secured it for themselves, only to make use of the supposedly superior internet service - they seem to take everything from me! It’s like I’m living with people who just invade my privacy constantly. To make matters worse, the locks on the main entrance have been utterly botched, rendering them accessible to anyone wandering by. This is particularly concerning given how easy it is for them to waltz in and out of my space - it feels like the entire place is just a revolving door for their mates. Since moving here, I've encountered so many instances of intrusion, both physically and personally, and it's clear they exploit my already fragile situation. Their so-called ‘friends’ seem to be always lurking about, sharing information about my whereabouts, when I’m not at home, and even what I purchase. I wouldn't be surprised if this message gets deleted or flagged by them, as they seem to have an uncanny knack for shutting down any conversation that disrupts their little operation. It’s all deeply unsettling!

If I were to reveal their true identities in everyday life... or rather how they behaved after spending long hours "on air" either on television or radio, you simply wouldn't believe it! We're talking about individuals from BBC Radio 1 or television and the like. It's quite astonishing!

If your folks advise you to be sceptical about what you see or hear on the telly, it’s clear they have a valid point! They’re speaking from experience, that's for sure!

Just a thought, but if you're contemplating bringing kids into the world, maybe stick to one. Otherwise, you'll find yourself in a bit of a pickle down the line, forced to choose which one to favour when it comes to finances. Trust me, my own family has had to navigate those murky waters.
4 years
It's quite astonishing how certain individuals can be so oblivious to their actions. My sister, for instance, seems to have made a habit of idly waiting around for her rather dubious clientele, one of whom just happens to be our brother - utterly vile, if you ask me. It's as if she takes pride in her unscrupulous lifestyle, living off ill-gotten gains and government assistance, all while lurking about, keeping tabs on me. Her entourage of unsavoury characters often appears to facilitate this unsettling situation. I've had to install cameras to monitor my own space, due to her incessant visits with her questionable companions - they practically invade my flat! It’s such a disgraceful reality, and the fact that my brother is intertwined in this sordid mess makes it all the more disturbing. Truly, this whole scenario feels like a twisted nightmare.
4 years
It's quite astonishing how they operate, isn't it? It feels like an orchestrated scheme to manipulate anyone who hasn't already been thoroughly exploited, as those individuals appear to offer a steady stream of income that's too valuable for them to simply cast aside. I've noticed that even comments like these seem to be under constant scrutiny-they react based on what they read and what they choose to act on. Just recently, I received yet another call from one of their numbers and could even hear strange noises coming from the neighbouring flat, presumably from one of their associates. It’s utterly surreal; this has been happening ever since I moved to the UK, particularly after they unceremoniously dismissed me from the job they'd provided, seemingly to clear the space for someone else-potentially for more nefarious purposes. They used to dictate my working hours under the guise of a cleaning job, and as soon as the female in question was “finished,” my so-called boss would suddenly be reluctant to let me work any longer that day. He seemed intent on ensuring I wouldn’t be around, likely to keep their shady dealings under wraps. The moment I tried to finish my duties early, he would be in contact with her, claiming I was on my way home, or worse, dragging out my hours under the pretext of offering more work and, of course, more cash. Foolishness at its finest, really. What’s more, they have a keen eye on my online activities. Once, he even insisted that I log into my own account at their office, and I suspect he was keeping a close watch on what I was typing-possibly to snoop around for anything incriminating that he could use against me. It’s infuriating dealing with someone who is not only incredibly dim-witted but has the most unpleasant visage to match. It’s a grim bunch, truly; the lot of them seem to embody the worst of humanity, particularly the ones they seem to cater to.

Navigating life can be incredibly challenging when you find it difficult to place your trust in others. Despite having what is ostensibly a family, it's disheartening to realise that they may actually be the source of your pain. They go to great lengths to manipulate perceptions, ensuring that others only see you through the distorted lens they’ve created, all in an effort to maintain their own abusive behaviour. It’s a toxic cycle that makes it really arduous to carve out a sense of self in a world that feels so unwelcoming.

Take my advice and steer clear of any flat above a wool shop. You’ll find yourself as their next target, with cameras watching your every move. The flat is wide open to them, their clients, and who knows who else could be coming and going. There are surely other properties they rent out too… Just best to avoid the whole situation!

Just to let you know, they've been struggling with their internet, which is subpar compared to mine, so it’s clearly not functioning as it should. Instead of sorting things out, it seems like they’re resorting to sneaky tactics-calling each other "bro" and "sis", while keeping an eye on my activities. They could have spent their time more wisely instead of lurking around to see what I’m up to on Netflix. They're also cleverly using the web for other dodgy dealings, like burning CDs and then flogging them at that Poundland shop across the road. Honestly, there’s a whole saga of sneaky behaviour from them. Now that they’ve seen what I’ve posted here, it’s pretty obvious they've blocked the site and shared what they’ve discovered with their mates. I can only anticipate more of their underhanded antics from here. They'll likely attempt to pull off more questionable schemes in my name, armed with all my personal info and any means they can leverage. They’ve already messed me around once, and I’ve got this feeling they’re not done yet.

If I had exercised more prudence in my chemistry or biology studies, perhaps I’d be equipped to resolve this torment I’ve been enduring since 2003. It all began with an incident that they misleadingly framed as my fault. Now, I find myself trapped in this wretched cycle, treated as merely a pawn for their financial gain. There must be a way to put an end to this madness!

Just a heads-up for anyone considering renting at their place-be prepared for a pretty grim experience. You might find yourself dealing with all sorts of horrid behaviour, whether it's theft, property damage, or even worse. Not to mention, you'll likely be under constant watch, as if you're a subject of some strange reality show. The more esteemed you are in terms of value, the tighter their grip seems to become-they might turn your life into a living nightmare just to squeeze something from you. Strange as it sounds, this kind of misconduct seems to be tied to those who claim a royal lineage. I've shared my concerns about their antics before, but it seems like no one really understands the depths of it. It baffles me how some of you still refer to yourselves as 'Royalists'-are you really that blind?

It's rather alarming how some individuals appear to surround themselves with decent company, seemingly to enhance their own image, while masking their true intentions. It raises serious concerns about the character of those who engage in such behaviour. Despicable actions like these deserve our utmost scrutiny and should not be tolerated in any capacity.

Absolutely genuine, without a doubt! I've confirmed through Openreach's official website that the number 07786202608 is indeed one they might reach out to you from. It seems to be tied to an automated messaging system, which typically doesn't use the standard 0800 or 0300 numbers for sending texts. The message reads: "service: 07786202608 - Just a friendly nudge to inform you that your appointment for the installation of your new service has been secured." For further details, you can check out this link: https://www.openreach.com/help-and-support/problems-and-appointments/got-an-engineer-coming/#keeping-you-informed-before-the-visit

Just received a message from 07786 202 608 about Vodafone Home Broadband installation at my place. The text had all the right info regarding the appointment I set up through Vodafone, and after looking into it, it's a legit notification. This is a proper text from Openreach (the company behind the old BT installation service) for anyone having their broadband upgraded with a new line, no matter who your provider is. 'New service: 07786202608 - Reminder that you’ve got an appointment booked to set up your new service.'

I just got a message from 07786 202 608 about the Vodafone Home Broadband being set up at my place. The text had all the right info about the appointment I booked through Vodafone, and after having a look, it seems legit. This is actually a legit text/call from Openreach (basically the old BT installation team) for anyone getting a new broadband line, no matter who your provider is. If you search 'New service: 07786202608 - Appointment reminder for installing your new service' on Google, it brings up Openreach’s website confirming the number is theirs.

Got a call from 07786202608 saying they were from Openreach, so I checked with my provider. They said no job was booked for my place and that Openreach just informs folks when they’re working nearby. Today I got the same text again, so I replied with ‘cancel’. Less than an hour later, I got a message back from the same number pretending to be my provider saying the order was cancelled as per my request. Feels like a total scam. They’re just trying to get you to upgrade needlessly and tie you into a longer contract. Best to ignore these nonsense messages.

Blimey, just got another dodgy text asking me to verify an order. I’m switching to BT because Virgin Media’s been a nightmare with all these scams targeting my account. Seriously, always double-check any messages before you reply or click anything on your phone. I rang the number they gave and it was dead, no answer at all. BT told me they wouldn’t send texts like that. Proper annoying! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I've received several messages from this number claiming that an Openreach engineer is scheduled to visit for a BT broadband installation. The irony is, we're not BT customers, and we already have our broadband set up with a different provider. It's clearly a scam! Just to note, Openreach doesn't reach out to customers using this number. Stay vigilant!

Unlike a lot of people’s comments here, I can’t see this number listed on the OpenReach site. Their website says that any texts should come from the short code 80230. I checked with my phone company and they advised me to just disregard it. They confirmed the engineer is still scheduled to arrive at the time my provider gave me, which interestingly is exactly what the text message said too.

Like some others mentioned, it’s defo an Openreach TalkTalk router. Funny enough, I’ve had it for ages but never actually hooked it up since I’m still using Sky on my other line. The original line has never been connected either. Think I’ll give it a shot though, cos Sky’s service is rubbish, never getting near that 22 meg they claim. When I run speed tests with Ookla, it’s more like 8 to 18 meg max. If this one’s better, I’m chucking Sky out for sure.

About the number 07786202608. After reading the feedback here, I’m really suspicious now about the 3 texts I got from this number. They said they’d be doing some free fibre work for our internet provider tomorrow (Monday 6th Feb) and that I should leave the router on by 8am. Problem is, nowadays it’s often easier to spot a scam than actually talk to a real person at your broadband company! Such a pain having to keep double checking all these dodgy calls, like these scammers are just running wild online!!

I rang Talk Talk earlier today about a text I got last night from the number 07786202608, supposedly from Openreach. They told me it was a legit number since they're upgrading some users from the 'Fast Fiber' 35 and 65 plans to something called 'Future Fiber', which they say offers a quicker and more reliable connection. Just a heads up, if you go for the upgrade, it's tied to a 24 month contract. So if you're planning on switching providers after your current deal, this upgrade will lock you in for another two years.
