TOTALLY POINTLESS Openreach! The person I got didn't even speak English properly, just wasting my time. Completely useless and totally clueless at their job! What a mess!

07786202608 I keep getting texts about my broadband at all hours, even in the middle of the night. Not really sure if it’s genuine, but getting messages at 3am is proper annoying.

This number keeps ringing me incessantly. Seems like it's a call centre of some sort.

I attempted to return a missed call from this number, but all I got was a message saying the number isn’t recognised. Seems like it might be a scam, to be honest.

Using the details on this page I looked up the number on the OpenReach site and it is definitely in their directory. It’s the day before I’m changing my broadband to a new provider, so it doesn’t seem too unusual. I didn’t get any notice from my new provider, Shell Energy, about an engineer coming round - I just figured they’d post the router and I’d set it up myself - so Shell Energy could’ve done a better job letting me know. But for now, it all looks genuine.

The OpenReach website does show this number is theirs, used when they’re setting up lines or switching providers. I was actually waiting for a call from them cause I’m switching my broadband right now, and the date they said matches when the change should happen. Still feels a bit strange how they do it, and plus, numbers can be faked these days.

Got a call from an unknown number and they just mentioned “your service provider” without saying which company or organisation. Very vague.

Had an appointment lined up today between 1 and 6 pm but the person never showed. Proper frustrating when you set time aside for a customer and they just don’t turn up.

This number kept popping up on my phone as an outgoing call, saying I’d dialled the wrong number. The only way to get rid of it was to block it and remove every trace of it from my contacts. Complete pain in the neck, really, just clutters the phone. It’s finally gone now. Strange mentions of BT and stuff too, prob because Openreach were just sorting our new shell internet. That itself was a bit of a saga - left feeling proper abandoned. PL

I reckon it’s a scam, cause my network provider told me the engineer would visit and if I’m not home, they’ll charge me. So why is someone from this number asking for a confirmation now? Best to just ignore it.

They called again today. When I tried calling back, BT said the number was unknown and unrecognised? Im a bit baffled now! If it was Openreach, wouldnt BT have mentioned it? We are still waiting for our fibre upgrade, which was mentioned in the email this morning.

Even tho u say it’s legit, it makes me feel like ending it all. I’m not just broke, I lost my job because of COVID and have barely any income now, just unemployed. I’ve been trying to reach out, cause I don’t have anyone to talk to except when I’m out shopping, just to maybe get a chance at work by using the internet for job hunting. But this just throws another huge barrier in the way... it’s not just a final blow, it feels like I’m already at my own grave. I used to believe in God, but after how my family treated me - abusing me in every way that’s easy for them - I’ve lost all faith. I don’t even pray anymore, like, why bother? This adds one more final strike... u really do make it harder for people like me.

Just went down to the bank to stop any agreements with companies that might’ve used my broadband searches. They've been ringin’ me up, with this fake background noise like it’s a proper call centre, trying to sound legit. When I told ’em I wanted to cancel, they rang back from another similar number, this time a woman claiming to sort it out. Honestly, it’s all a bloody SCAM. It’s way safer to sort things out face-to-face at official places - phone calls are too easy to fake, and you could end up stuck with massive bank debts while the scammers make a fortune. Feels like there’s nothing in this world left to trust or feel safe about anymore.

HERE'S A WARNING - if you ever get into an "accident," whether it’s due to your loved ones or just plain bad luck, be prepared for how messed up things can get with your own family. I had one, and instead of support, they twisted everything to line their pockets. It’s crazy how they ruined my chances of getting better, yet they acted like they were doing me a favour (inside I was fuming and laughing bitterly). They basically used my situation to make money and gain advantages... you couldn’t imagine how bad it really gets.

It’s no surprise they left themselves hardly anything, those bloody lot. Back then, my so-called sister and brother used to keep an eye on every penny, but now they can go wherever and buy whatever they fancy. And blimey, the lot at the council office who decided on those benefits must have been in on it - telling her she was sent too much and had to send some back, but she swiped a good chunk for herself. That’s just how “family” picks who’s worthier and who gets to play the poor victim later on. Then they mess it all up, nick any cash they can, and pretend they’re helping you, all while keeping you tied up with their endless, sticky mafia tentacles so you can’t move or speak freely. Basically, they hold you like a puppet on strings. Honestly, for God’s sake - though I don’t believe in one, my life’s shown me that time and time again.

Honestly, I reckon after I cancelled the contract, my family went ahead and ordered it again to get that supposedly ‘better than the flat’ internet for themselves. They literally take everything from me! They’re always messing around, even barging into my room - there’s no real key for it anyway. They damaged the main entrance doors too, so now anyone can just walk right in. The doors right next to the flat have the same common lock as theirs, so it’s basically an open invitation all around. Since moving in, I’ve had so much crap done to my stuff and myself - guess they know how vulnerable I am. Their “gang” and friends keep pestering me, letting everyone know where I am, when the flat is empty, where I go, and what I buy. I’m sure if I posted this somewhere, they’d just delete or report it like before, so they can keep doing their thing without consequences.

If I were to share who these folks actually are in normal life, or even the roles they take on after clocking more hours on air, whether it’s on radio or TV, you probably wouldn’t believe it. Think BBC1 radio or TV type stuff, and it’s quite something.

When my mum and dad always warned me not to fully trust or believe everything on TV, I never really got why at first - turns out they were totally right! They really knew their stuff about how untrustworthy the telly can be.

just a heads up- if you’re considering having kids, maybe stick to just one. I’m telling you, having more can really mess things up later, like having to choose which one to support or who ends up struggling cause of money. my family went through something like that, it’s not easy at all...

That same "sister" just sits around doing nothing, waiting for her dirty clients - one of whom happens to be my own brother! Honestly, it's disgusting. She mooches off all of them, stealing from everyone and living off government benefits or whatever dirty money she can scrounge. She spends her time spying on me or hanging round with her thugs. She even shows herself on her cameras and mine - which I installed because she kept turning up at my flat with her so-called boyfriends, total scumbags. The same brother hides out here too - the one sleeping with her and acting like a guard. And my rapist, spying on me constantly - it’s all sadly true.

They and their whole crew have this disgusting way of messing with anyone who hasn’t been ruined by them already. They see people as money machines they can exploit forever. Lately, I’ve noticed they’re keeping tabs on me too - reading everything and making moves based on what they find. Just got another ring from one of their numbers, and I can even hear noise coming from the flat next door with one of their guys inside. It’s defo not in my head. Ever since I moved to the UK, especially after they fired me from the job they gave me, they’ve been up to no good. They cleared out my flat so that her sister could use it for whatever dodgy things she does. They controlled how many hours I worked cleaning - the “boss” would only let me finish once she’d finished her business. If she needed longer, he’d come up with some excuse to get me to work more, promising extra hours and cash like I was some mug. Besides all that, they keep spying on my online stuff too. I remember once being forced to log into my account in their cramped office while that idiot watched every key I pressed, looking for anything to use against me. The whole lot, with their nasty faces and dirty secrets, are just scumbags. They run their operations for the worst types of people too - honestly, they’re all monsters.

It's really tough to get through life when trust is so rare, especially when the people who’re meant to be your family are actually the ones hurting you. They make sure nobody else sees you for who you truly are, twisting things so everyone thinks of you the way they want, all to cover up what they’re doing. Makes it feel impossible to ever be truly okay.

Honestly, I’ve been considering just getting the cheapest coffin I can find, probably from Argos or something, for when my time comes. Feels like that’s all I could really afford anyway.

Avoid renting a flat above a wool shop, it’s a nightmare! The shop and their customers can just get in whenever they want. It's mad, like they’ve got free access to your place. Might be the same with other spots they lease too... total scam.

so basically, they wanted better internet than what they had but ended up not getting it, yet still tried to push themselves on me. my “sis” and bro are constantly spying on both me and her under the guise of “security.” they’d be better off spending their time watching netflix with me rather than sneaking around. they also use the web to burn cds that they then flog as movies in that cheap store just across the street... and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. now that they’ve seen what I’ve posted here, they’ve blocked this site and passed info to other people about what they found out I know. I’m just waiting for their next sneaky move, trying to make fake deals pretending they’re me, using all my info and whatever access they can get. they’ve already messed me up plenty and, unfortunately, they’re still at it.

If I’d just paid more attention in chemistry or bio back then, maybe I’d know how to stop all this crap they dragged me into since 2003. Absolutely NOT a scam - I had a look at the Openreach website and 07786202608 appears there as a legitimate number they might use to get in touch. It seems like they use an automated system for sending texts, which don’t always come from the usual 0800 or 0300 prefixes. Yeah, it’s really Openreach automated system ringing to double check appointments, but even after I confirmed it like multiple times, they just keep calling to verify again.

Got a call from 07786202608 saying they were from Openreach, so I checked with my provider. They said no job was booked for my place and that Openreach just informs folks when they’re working nearby. Today I got the same text again, so I replied with ‘cancel’. Less than an hour later, I got a message back from the same number pretending to be my provider saying the order was cancelled as per my request. Feels like a total scam. They’re just trying to get you to upgrade needlessly and tie you into a longer contract. Best to ignore these nonsense messages.

Said they were from Op - sounded like one word at a time, really slow with big gaps in between. The call was pre-recorded, which feels fishy and probably a scam. If it’s actually Openreach, they really need to sort out their technology!

I got a message on my voicemail from someone claiming to be Amazon, saying I tried to buy something but the payment didn’t work. They said they’d ring me again to fix it. When I called the number back, no one answered. Pretty sure it’s a total scam 😠

I got a call from 7786202608 claiming to be Openreach thru my provider. I did get a call earlier from my supplier so I figured it was legit. They even gave me a date and a job number from the supplier.

Got a text from 07786202608 asking for my full name and order number to "check something." I’ve no clue what they mean or who this number is even linked to. Very suspicious if you ask me.

Unlike a lot of people’s comments here, I can’t see this number listed on the OpenReach site. Their website says that any texts should come from the short code 80230. I checked with my phone company and they advised me to just disregard it. They confirmed the engineer is still scheduled to arrive at the time my provider gave me, which interestingly is exactly what the text message said too.

I saw reports from 2021, but the scam has popped up again. Got a text saying "Openreach will visit to upgrade broadband, reply to confirm or reschedule." Just ignored it since it seemed like one of those phishing attempts.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Openreach about switching me to TalkTalk. Thing is, I’ve never planned anything with TalkTalk at all.

Like some others mentioned, it’s defo an Openreach TalkTalk router. Funny enough, I’ve had it for ages but never actually hooked it up since I’m still using Sky on my other line. The original line has never been connected either. Think I’ll give it a shot though, cos Sky’s service is rubbish, never getting near that 22 meg they claim. When I run speed tests with Ookla, it’s more like 8 to 18 meg max. If this one’s better, I’m chucking Sky out for sure.

About the number 07786202608. After reading the feedback here, I’m really suspicious now about the 3 texts I got from this number. They said they’d be doing some free fibre work for our internet provider tomorrow (Monday 6th Feb) and that I should leave the router on by 8am. Problem is, nowadays it’s often easier to spot a scam than actually talk to a real person at your broadband company! Such a pain having to keep double checking all these dodgy calls, like these scammers are just running wild online!!

This number does seem legit. Just be careful and remember scammers might be faking it, so use your judgement.

I rang Talk Talk earlier today about a text I got last night from the number 07786202608, supposedly from Openreach. They told me it was a legit number since they're upgrading some users from the 'Fast Fiber' 35 and 65 plans to something called 'Future Fiber', which they say offers a quicker and more reliable connection. Just a heads up, if you go for the upgrade, it's tied to a 24 month contract. So if you're planning on switching providers after your current deal, this upgrade will lock you in for another two years.

Yeah, this is a legit Openreach number, I even looked it up on their official site. Talktalk did warn me about the upcoming internet upgrade but they really ought to have said it was from Openreach in their messages.

If you look up this number online, it’ll show up pretty quickly as one from Openreach. I checked and the second link was straight to their official site, where they confirm this number is one of theirs. So yeah, it’s definitely a proper Openreach contact, no dodgy stuff here.

Got a text from Openreach saying they were sortin’ stuff out for TalkTalk and activating my new service. They only message me, but I’ve been having problems with my phone and WiFi lately.

They was acting like they were from Openreach, just checking info about a supposed visit.

This number is definitely from OpenReach and they use it to send updates about your orders via text. It’s not some sort of scam or anything dodgy. You can look it up yourself on the OpenReach website to be sure.

Keep getting texts every day saying they're from Openreach. Really annoying.

+447786202608 sent me a message on my old phone saying: "Hi from Openreach on behalf of TalkTalk. We're excited to activate your new service on 16 Aug at postcode ending ###OLP. You don't need to be home. Just a reminder to plug in and power up your router before 8am on activation day so we can get your service running. The router will arrive with instructions, but if you need more help visit [#]vineo[###]/43365733." Problem is I haven't got a new router or any emails about it yet.
