I got a text saying it’s to keep my bills right before the price hike on 1st July. It asked me to send back my gas and electric meter readings like G1234 or G12345 E12345. The message was signed off from the British Gas Team. Before this, I had another message from a different number than usual, warning me they’d be texting from a new mobile number, but assured it was them. I remember getting a similar text last September about the October price rise, so I figured this one was legit too.

Got a message that looked like it came from British Gas after I sent in my meter readings. It said something like, "Thanks for your response, if we require further info, we'll contact you. Cheers, the British Gas Energy folks." Bit odd, but maybe just their usual follow-up?
