Got a message from someone calling themselves the Customer Welfare Team, saying they're from Electricity North West. They said I've been flagged as someone who might need assistance during power outages. They want me to click a link to update my info or reply with 'Remove' if I don't want the service anymore. I never signed up for anything like this, so not sure if it's legit or some sort of scam.

Pretty sure this is a scam, and could be risky. They claim to be from "Customer Support Team. Electricity North West", but I’m not one of their customers. They’re asking me to send my postcode and mentioning "Cumbria Action for Sustainability will get in touch". From what I can see, Cumbria Action for Sustainability seems like a genuine organisation.

Just got a text from this number saying they are from "Customer Welfare Team - Hello, it’s Electricity North West. We want to let you know about a free energy-saving service. If you want tips on saving money and energy, reply with your postcode and Groundwork UK, one of our partners, will get in touch. Thanks." Honestly, even if it’s legit, the fact it comes from a private number seems fishy to me. Nothing’s really free these days, feels like they’re targeting vulnerable folks. Not worth the risk. To the English teacher down here, maybe have a look at your own spelling and grammar before telling others they're wrong! Scammers exist everywhere, not just in Africa or among Africans, you absolute muppet. Why drag an entire continent and its people into this? Some folks really need a good whack on the head. Anyway, to the decent people reading, just block this number and delete any suspicious messages you get, simple as.

Total scam - they said I had to pay £2.99 to get a parcel delivered. I was expecting a few parcels anyway so I didn't think twice, but since I already have a Royal Mail account, it seemed odd they asked for all my bank info. Later that day, my bank messaged me saying someone tried to take money from my account. Luckily it got blocked and I ordered a new card. The folks saying it’s not a scam? I reckon they’re the scammers themselves - loads of spelling mistakes and weird phrases, probably from scammers overseas. Watch out, everyone!

Got a text from 07419 760883 saying it was Royal Mail, about a parcel I need to pay postage on or it’ll be sent back. The message came through at 1:30 in the morning. I’m not waiting for any parcel at all. Saw some folks here being a bit snide, calling others daft and claiming that number belongs to Electricity North West. Since when did they start delivering parcels? Bit of a laugh really. #eyeroll#

This number isn’t a scam, it belongs to Electricity North West, the company responsible for the power grid across the North West of England. This number isn’t a scam - it’s from the Electricity North West Customer Welfare Team. You won’t have a contract with them directly, as they’re responsible for managing the cables and distribution network supplying your home. If you’re vulnerable, or your provider (or United Utilities) know that there’s someone over 60 or a young child living with you, you’ll likely be on their priority supply list so they can offer extra help if there’s a power outage. They sometimes call to confirm the information they have is up to date. You can check everything on their official website.

Got a message from "Customer Welfare Team" saying it was Electricity North West offering some new free energy-saving service for those on their Priority Services Register. Said it’s helped loads of people already and to reply with "SAVING" if interested. Sounds a bit dodgy to me, could easily be a scam.

Just like many others here, got a message about possible help during a power outage, but definitely not from these folks. Don’t trust them at all, so I’ve blocked the number.

Bloody hell, just stop bothering me already! What makes these idiots think it's okay to try and nick from someone else? Honestly, I’m done thinking about it - you lot can chew on that one.

Definitely a con, best to just block it.

+447786201716 Got a text from the Customer Support folks at Electricity North West. Apparently, I'm on their Priority Services list, which is meant for people who might need extra help during a power outage. They're just checking if I still need this service. If I don't, all I have to do is reply with "REMOVE" and they’ll take me off the list. Fair enough, seems like a handy thing to know about. Cheers, ENWL.

On the 21st of Jan 2019 around 11:38, I got a text from 077786201716 claiming to be Manchester United FC. The message talked about this MU People Hub and said there’s a new HR system where you can see your payslip and update your info. They also asked for my current email and wanted me to reply. Seemed a bit off to me.

Got this text saying "Priority Customer" but I’m nowhere near a customer with them! Definitely seems a bit dodgy...

I got a text claiming it was from Electricity North West’s Customer Welfare team. Since that company is real, I checked their official site to see if the message was legit or just a spoof or some phishing attempt. But then again, if it’s a clever scam, how can I be sure their website isn’t fake as well!

Got a message that said it was from the North West electricity welfare group, but that’s not who I get my power from. I haven’t signed up for anything like that so I reckon it’s a scam.

Got a couple of messages telling me I’m on some North West Power priority list, and that if I’m not supposed to be, I should reply with REMOVE. Didn’t reply, seemed a bit suspicious to me. I think I’ll ring North West Power to check it out.

Got a call "from" Northumbrian Water saying they couldn’t read my water meter, which felt kinda odd to me. Doesn’t seem right, could be one of those scams.

They kept claiming to be Thames Water, which was just a lie. Really frustrating call.

Keeps getting weird, scrambled messages from Howsons Kitchen Sales. Told them to cut it out but they just keep coming through. So annoying!

I just got a message on my landline from 07786 201716 saying how it's Howden's Joinery with some deals at their Putney store. What’s weird is that BT read the text to me using a robotic voice. Proper irritating!

I've received a couple of calls on my landline from what seems to be a BT text service, informing me there's a message left by this number. I listened to the recordings, and they all echoed the same message: "695 customers are facing supply problems, and your electricity will be back by 12pm." The thing is, I'm not with ELNW, haven't experienced any power outage, and after the fourth call within just one hour, I must admit I'm rather irritated. After browsing through these comments, it appears ELNW knew about this issue as far back as September and were supposedly "addressing it." Honestly, it's high time they got it sorted!

Received a text from 07786201716 during a sudden blackout. I must say, I found it quite useful and forward-thinking. The message stated: "Hello, we apologise for the disruption to your power supply. We're currently addressing a high voltage issue within our network. Generally, 95% of our customers affected by such problems have their power back on within a couple of hours. For further updates and guidance, do check our website at www.enwl.co.uk. Should the situation take longer than anticipated, we’ll keep you informed about the new estimated restoration time. Cheers, ENWL.”

This morning, our power went out, so we got in touch with Northwest Electricity to report the issue, providing our landline number for follow-up. Thankfully, they discovered it was a fault outside our property and resolved it in no time. However, even six hours after the power was restored, we've been bombarded with text messages directed to our landline. It seems we've had about ten calls since then-rather frustrating, to say the least!

Last night, just after 11pm on Friday, the 12th of June, I received three texts claiming that my service would be restored shortly. However, my service has been down, and I've never even heard of this company before! It's quite baffling, especially considering we're ex-directory.

Just received a message on a landline from this number. If it pertains to North West Electric... for starters, they sent it to a business line located on a commercial premises. To top it off, my office is situated in the SOUTH EAST! Seriously, get your act together!
