Got a text from 07785016005 saying I might be due £3424.54 back because of tax taken on old PPI/loans. The message was from 'Zap Refunds' at 17:18 on 21st Sept 2023. It had a link (https //zap-adds.uk/ vsms.io/GB) but I didn’t click it. When I hit ‘info’ on my phone, it asked if I wanted to save 342454 as a contact. Dont reply to this number. They text you pretending to be Wise or Transfer Wise sayin your online bank account has been frozen. They include a website link but dont click on it. Its totally a scam.

A couple of comments down explain how you can help put a stop to these scams. It barely takes any more effort than sharing info on here. When reporting to the police fraud site, they don’t ask for your personal info, just the details about the scam. You might not see quick results, but at the moment the police have no clue how widespread this is. I got a reply from my MP that was quite eye-opening, but honestly, if more people don’t report these calls and messages, nothing much will change to end them.

I've gotten texts from this number quite a few times, although sometimes the number is hidden and it appears under names like Freemans or Lemann. They always call the person "Mrs" but with different names each time, telling me to click a link about some issue with an account. There's no way it’s anything but a scam. It's really annoying since when the number's hidden, you can't block it properly. I've replied with "stop all" loads of times, but after a while, the messages just keep coming back.

Got a message on 7th Jan 2022 around 3:38 pm claiming to be from NHStracing saying I’d been in contact with someone who has Covid-19. They called me Daniel and gave an account ID as z4790076. Problem is, I’m not called Daniel and I’ve never had a trace account or anything that matches that ID. The text continued with a bunch of rules and links to websites I was supposed to follow and get in touch with. I just chose to ignore the message.

Beware of these scam calls. I got a call from 01709357348 claiming to be Vodafone, trying to pitch a better contract. I told them to send the info by email but didn’t give out my address. Asked to confirm by replying with a code and a weird link. Definitely a scam - they charge you for texting back! The funny part? Spoke to Vodafone about loads of texts from this number that cost me 35p each. Didn’t get much help at first, so I told them I’d switch providers once my contract’s up. Then they rang me back and offered a £20 refund, which I took. Next time I’ll make sure to tell them when I’m abroad so I can sort out a proper package beforehand. A reputable bank ought to have taken note of the number and handed it over to their fraud department, which could have collaborated with the police's primary scam unit based in London and Vodafone. Sadly, it seems Lloyds TSB is quite the opposite of a trustworthy institution. I'd strongly advise you to report this to Action Fraud-just search for them online; they’re incredibly useful.

We've noticed this number appearing on our phone bill while we’ve been overseas. It doesn’t clarify if the texts are coming in or going out, but we've been charged for it multiple times. It's quite puzzling, as we’ve never sent a message to that number. I’m planning to give Vodafone a ring shortly to get to the bottom of this and see what they have to say.

We've received a multitude of texts from this number, yet we're completely in the dark about who it might be. There’s been no prior conversation or any form of communication with them at all.

While we were overseas, we noticed a charge on our bill indicating that we’d sent three text messages to this number. The thing is, we’ve never actually sent any texts to them, and there's no record of these messages in our sent items. We're currently using Vodafone.
