I got a call from someone claiming I was owed PPI from Lloyds Bank. I told them I never even had an account with Lloyds, then they just hung up. The number showed up in my call list as +07784245182, which seemed odd since no country code starts with +07. Usually, UK mobiles are shown like 07712 345678 with a space, and not with a + sign at the start. It’s pretty clear they were trying to make it look like a British mobile but it definitely felt dodgy.

This bloke with an Asian accent has called me around three times this week. I finally picked up and he started talking about me owing money on a credit card. Thing is, I don’t even have a credit card, so I knew straight away it was dodgy. When I wouldn’t say any more, he got a bit nasty and accused me of not understanding English. He kept muttering his company’s name, something like money resolutions or some nonsense.

Just got a call from some muppet pretending to be from a call centre saying I apparently "owe debts" or something. The guy had an Asian accent. When I told him it's none of his business, he started calling me names like "Motherfucker" and all that. The number was 07784 254182 - I tried calling it back but it said "Sorry, this number isn't recognised". If you get one of these tossers trying to scab info off you, just hang up straight away.

Got three calls from this debt help number within 10 mins, couldn’t resist playing a fool just to keep it entertaining. On the last call, when he finally realised what was going on, he offered me some kind of freebie. While I’m typing this, they’ve rung me another four times. It was a bit funny at first, but I’m blocking the number now. This seems like a trick to grab your info and mess with your bank details. I’d rate their persistence 8 out of 10.

These firms are so aggressive, the authorities really should step in and do something to keep people safe!!!

A man with an Asian accent has been phoning me repeatedly over the last few days, asking for someone who doesn’t live here. I keep telling him he’s got the wrong number and asking why he’s bothering. To cut a long story short, he admitted his job involves calling mobiles and noting which ones pick up, and apparently they (or his firm) get paid £50 for each active number, which they then sell on. Not sure if it’s legit, but it’s pretty dodgy if you ask me. I’d say better to just ignore and block if they ring you. That’s what I’ve ended up doing anyway.

This number rang my husband's mobile and asked for me by name. My husband asked what it was about but got no proper answer. Then, when he said I wasn’t available, the caller went silent for a moment before saying "I f###ed (my name) last night." We live in the UK and apparently the call came from Russia! Really odd! I’m quite a busy person and there’s no way I hopped on a plane to Russia and back in 12 hours without anyone noticing, especially not my hubby or family. Bit hilarious but kinda worrying at the same time! Watch out everyone & no offence meant to Russia ???????

Got a ring from this mobile number and it caught me by surprise. The bloke was quite polite, asked how I was doing. There was a lot of noise behind him, and he mentioned the company he was calling from, but I didn’t catch it properly, so I asked him to say it again. Some git, and I use that term loosely, named Lee Ellis has been passing off my number as his own and telling loads of folks he's after loans - it's totally not true. Now I’m swamped with calls, many of which are pretty rude and won't take no for an answer! Received a ring from this number a few mins ago. Guy sounded Indian and the background was noisy like a busy office, loads of calls going on in the background. The intro was just like other calls I’ve had from this sort of number, likely a scam call centre. The line got all crackly so I just ended the call. Just like someone else mentioned before, the bloke rattled off the company name so fast I couldn’t catch it. He claimed I had a massive debt and my credit score was tanking. I told him to stop calling and to remove me from their list, but he told me to f off not once, but twice, and used some really rude language. I’m nearly 66 and I don’t appreciate being spoken to like that. Is there anything we can do about this or a way to report him? Just wondering.

Someone rang up looking for my mum, said they were from some credit firm. When I told them to take me off their list, they wouldn’t budge and insisted on talking to my mum, not me. They kept saying stuff like, ‘I got this number from your mum, I’ve gotta speak to her.’ They kept ringing non stop for ages, so I just blocked them in the end.

I gave a bunch of made-up info and kept putting the caller on hold every few minutes, saying I was at work and might have to pause the call now and then. After about the tenth hold and nearly twenty minutes, he asked what my job was. I told him, "I work for DASSALLS." He said, "What’s that?" I replied, "The Department Against Scammers And Sneaky Scumbags." He found that funny and then just hung up. Weird, right? Definitely block this number, they’re proper wankers and need to be stopped.

If a caller asks how you are and you say fine or anything, it stops being a cold call. To report these calls to the cops, don’t reply to their greetings or questions, just fire your own questions at them. If it’s recorded, you can take it straight to the police.
