Got this text saying “Hey Mum, my phone busted today and I had to get a new number. Please message me back at 07784171673 when you get this, it’s really important x” I’m 26 and def no kids. Yeah, total scam right there.

I got a text from a dodgy number, said something like "Mum, I've smashed my phone," but it came through on a mate's phone. They were trying to pull a fast one pretending to be my kid, even though I'm a bloke. Proper scam attempt if you ask me.

I got a message from +44 778 489 8660 claiming to be a family member telling me to text 07784 171673, which I did without thinking at first. After a few messages back and forth, this so-called relative started asking me for £500, saying it was for a new phone they supposedly needed and that they were in the shop right then.
