This was definitely Santander. I got a message saying there was some odd activity on my account and to reply by text or phone the number provided. Feeling a bit iffy, I decided to ring the number listed in the banking app, not the one in the message. They told me someone had tried to buy stuff on eBay with my card. They've since blocked my card and are sorting out a refund after spotting another dodgy transaction too.

I just got a message purporting to be from 'Santander', claiming they need to verify some recent transactions linked to my account. Following that, they mentioned I would receive further texts from this mobile number. The message then stated that a payment from my card was rejected, mentioning a company I've never dealt with before. Quite strange, if you ask me!

I've received a dodgy call from what claimed to be Santander, pushing for a callback regarding outgoing transactions. It smells like a scam to me! Steer clear and don’t engage with them-just ignore any messages or return calls.

Surprisingly, this number actually belongs to Santander Bank and they use it to notify customers about any strange activity on their accounts. I don’t think it’s right at all, especially with all the scams going around from mobile numbers. I’ve already put in a complaint with them about it.

It's simply astonishing that this number is legitimately employed by Santander to dispatch notifications concerning account activities that they intend customers to question. In light of the rampant fraud these days, I find this utterly intolerable and have raised my concerns with Santander directly. I highly recommend that anyone receiving messages from this number should reach out to Santander beforehand to verify. Why on earth can't they utilise a single, easily identifiable number for all their communications? It would certainly make things a lot easier and safer for everyone!

I got a text from a hidden number that supposedly came from Santander, asking me to "review recent transactions on my account." They said my next message would come from 07782635983. Right after, I got a message from that number telling me to ring 0808 2802011. Coincidently, at the same time, I also received a notification from a service I use, saying my card subscription wasn’t going to renew. Then, about half an hour later, I got a recorded phone call from 0808 2802011. It played a message saying they were from Santander’s security team, spelled out my name, gave me a three-digit code and asked me to ring them back. This scam is pretty advanced, they really seem to have some of your personal info beforehand. It’s a worrying trick that feels very convincing.

I was pretty sure this number was dodgy - check out my report above. I didn’t believe Santander would be messaging from a mobile number. So I decided to ring them on 0800 3134321. I ended up chatting for ages with someone from their security team who looked at my account and confirmed that 07782635983 is a real number they do use to send texts. I told them I found it quite shocking because who would trust a bank sending messages from a mobile? The guy said he understood where I was coming from, but insisted the texts and calls I’d had were legit. Still, I’m going to write a formal complaint to Santander. In this age of phone scams, it just seems way too risky and unacceptable.

Got a text saying it was Santander asking me to confirm some activity on my account, and that this number would get in touch with me. It told me to reply yes or no, or ring 08082800767. At 1 in the morning on a Sunday?! No chance.

Got a message from this number saying some1 spent 40p but payment needs confirming b4 it leaves my account. I’m gonna ring Santander myself to check it out but tbh it seems like it could be real.

I got a text claiming to be from Santander saying there was some issue with my account and that I should expect calls from the number above to explain what I need to do. It seemed fishy to me so I didn’t reply. The following day I rang Santander myself and found out that there had been a charge on my credit card made in the US. I still can’t tell who that phone number was connected to. Luckily, Santander handled the problem and gave me my money back.
