Received a text called VERIFY saying there's been unauthorised access to my account. It told me to log in to unlock it and included a link. When I tapped on more info in the message, it showed that the service centre could be reached at the phone number in the text.

Got a text saying I could get a free telly, obviously spam. I’ve already told my phone company about it.

Just got a call today claiming to be from HMRC - total scam, watch out!

Just got a message telling me to reach out to Ryanair about a flight with the code UTG6TS that doesn't even exist. Seems fishy to me.

Got a text saying there was some weird stuff happening on my Paypal account and asking me to log in straight away using a link that looked like uk.paypal.signin2.uk.com. Clearly, that’s not the real Paypal website, so don’t click it!

Received a text from this number saying:
"Please confirm your upcoming payout. Click here to verify your account - http://bit.ly/2FSHpzE"

There wasn’t any other info, so it’s probably another scam like the usual ones.

This morning I received a message about my car, telling me to contact [email protected] by email. Then I got another message with the same email, saying they couldn't pick up the car and would be sending a courier, also asking for payment through the courier. I'm really relieved I looked into it properly before replying or giving any personal info.

Got a text saying I’m due a £972.39 P60 refund and to click a link for it. They mention my bank might ask for extra ID. Looks like another dodgy scam, best not to respond!

Somebody got in touch saying they were interested in buying my car from Gumtree. They insisted they'd pay me the same day through PayPal. Then they messaged saying they couldn’t pick it up themselves and that a courier would come instead. They said they’re disabled and buying it for a relative. Watch out for this one - they wouldn’t share any proper info.

Got a message saying my Wickes order was ready to pick up in Dudley, but I’m like 150 miles away from there. Didn’t bother replying.

I just had a run-in with someone using [email protected], and it definitely feels like a scam. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here. It’s great when we look out for one another like this.

Just got that message too. I shot back with "ahahah, no way, cash on pickup." Haven't heard a peep since. Feels like they're trying to abuse PayPal protection, so they get their cash back but still hold onto the car.

Got a message from someone saying they were disabled and wanted to buy my car for their cousin. The car was listed on GUMTREE, but the buyer only wanted to pay with PAYPAL and wasn’t interested in seeing the car first, just eager to pay the full price. I found it odd because when I tried to reply, my phone showed a red warning symbol, and when I called the number it just didn’t connect. The buyer left a gmail contact, [email protected], so I sent an email saying if they were nearby I’d bring the car round and accept cash. Never heard back. Feels like a classic SCAM to me.

Received the same message earlier and felt instantly uneasy since I’m actually with HSBC. The number it came from seemed dodgy too, not your usual bank line. Also, there’s no way a proper UK bank would request personal info in a text like that.

I got a suspicious message pretending to be from HSBC, telling me to click a link. When I looked it up, I found out this number’s been flagged in different countries, all the way back to 2012. Definitely a scam!

About a week back, I got a text from this number claiming it was a free message, but after that, any more texts would cost me 75p each. Today, another text popped up showing my first name and saying I’d received 1 new photo message with a link attached. I tried putting the link into the browser, but it just said I’d entered the wrong number. I don’t have a smartphone either - just an old Nokia 3310, which definitely can’t take photos or browse the internet! Quite strange really.
