Received a text that read something along the lines of: "FREEMSG: My records indicate you're entitled to £1,750 in compensation for your accident. To make a claim, simply reply CLAIM to this text. To opt-out, text STOP." I have a sneaking suspicion that replying with either CLAIM or STOP would end up costing us a pretty penny, and even if we had been in an accident (which fortunately we haven’t), we wouldn’t entertain such messages. The fact that it starts with "FREEMSG:" already raises a red flag for us.

I received a message that was pretty much the same, except it mentioned a sum of £1750. It definitely feels dodgy, especially since I’ve never had an accident here in the UK. Something doesn’t sit right with this whole situation!

Received a text message from that number on 19th September 2009 at 12:19:33. It read: FREEMSG: According to my files, you could be eligible for £3750 regarding an accident you experienced. To claim at no cost, please reply with YES to this message. If you wish to unsubscribe, text STOP. Has anyone got a clue who this might be?
