My dad got a phone call from a chap who was apparently trying to trade shares that supposedly belonged to him. He politely declined the offer, and then hung up. Just six minutes later, the same fellow rang back, but this time it went straight to the voicemail. The message was chilling - he claimed to know our address and threatened to come over and do us harm, insisting we vacate the house immediately.

I got a call from an Indian lady who acted like she was aware of the shares I owned and was keen on purchasing them at a much higher price than usual. She asked for my email, and that’s when I realised it was surely some kind of scam, so I ended the call straight away.

An individual rang my elderly friend, who is 84, inquiring about someone named Michael Aldred. I answered the phone and informed him that he'd dialled the wrong number. He vehemently insisted he hadn't made a mistake and proceeded to hurl the word “witch” at me three times in a row. I’m relieved it was me on the line and not my friend. It seems he had called previously as well. What a dreadful character!

I received an unsolicited call that I initially thought was from Scottish Power, but given what I've seen from other people's comments, it seems more likely she was talking about S.P. shares, which I sold ages ago. When I brought up the Telephone Preference Service, she really lost her cool and started swearing at me. I told her I wasn’t keen on being spoken to like that, so I ended the call. To my surprise, she rang me back right away, but I opted to ignore it.

Got a call from an indian guy about stocks or something, clearly a dodgy scam. I said I'd record the call and asked him to give his name and company, plus what exactly he was pitching, saying i'd send it to the police. He got all aggressive and started shouting. Got a call from someone named Sylvia, but honestly it sounded like a bloke on the phone. She somehow knew I owned some Alphmeric shares, plus my full name, address and landline number. She told me she had a client dealing with a hostile takeover, and claimed my shares had grown from one to five times their previous value. Apparently each share was worth anywhere between £5 and £15. She said she was Swedish but had a Canadian mum, which seemed a bit odd but sounded believable enough.

This is the second time I've picked up the phone to this number. An American chap was on the line asking for someone named Sybal. I'd previously informed him that there's no such person linked to my number, and requested he cease calling. He claimed it was his initial attempt to reach out. Then came the bizarre comment about the "b**ch" owing him money, followed by an accusation that I was concealing her whereabouts! Once again, I asserted that there's nobody by that name here, and then hung up. Upon reviewing my call logs, it appears I've received ten calls from this number in the past fortnight. Since I've only recently changed my number after moving house, I’m baffled as to how they've managed to get hold of it. I've taken the step to block the number now.
