These callers now use INTERNATIONAL as a prefix so loads of us pick up thinking its important. But like what others said, they just hang up straight away and we’re left clueless. It feels like pure harassment for no good reason as they dont even attempt any kind of scam.

They called me once and I didn't answer. Then they phoned right back straight away. This time I let it go through. Luckily my Pixel 2XL showed it as spam while it was ringing.

I rang them pretending to be from NatWest, asking for my account info. Since I don’t actually have a NatWest account, I knew straight away it was dodgy. Plus, I could hear loads of other calls going on in the background, like it was a call centre. I also caught some of the workers chatting in Hindi, so it seemed like an Indian call centre. Why do these sorts of scams keep going on? Feels like some big organised scam running out of Indian call offices.

Just got a call from someone saying they were from the Citizens Advice Bureau in Manchester asking about my Life Insurance, and the scary part is he knew my name and address. I actually work at Citizens Advice and we never call people asking about that kinda stuff, we only get calls. Be careful, looks like these scammers from India are at it again!

LARGE AND SMALL BUSINESSES, INCLUDING PHONE PROVIDERS AND BANKS, SHOULD PROHIBIT STORING THEIR RECORDS FROM ONE COUNTRY IN ANOTHER, PARTICULARLY IN PLACES LIKE INDIA, AFRICA, INDONESIA, ETC. BEFORE THE LATE '90S, SCAM CALLS WEREN'T NEARLY AS BAD. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS BECAUSE THEY CHOOSE CHEAPER OPTIONS, WHICH HAVE UNINTENTIONALLY ALLOWED THESE CRIMINALS TO TARGET COUNTRIES LIKE THE UK, USA, AND FRANCE. IT’S A MAJOR REASON WHY THESE FRAUDS KEEP HAPPENING.
