I would advise you to give them a wide berth. Engaging in any form of communication could easily be seen as acknowledging a financial obligation, whether you meant to or not.

A few days back, we received a call from a company called Zinc Recoveries. They insisted on confirming our name and address before they would engage in any discussions about an 'account' that they claim has been ‘transferred’ to them. I’m quite puzzled as I’m not aware of any outstanding debts, so I declined to provide any information. Since then, they’ve tried to get in touch with us several times, but we’ve chosen to ignore the calls. Earlier today, I even received a text from this number: 072928148. Is there a way to make them leave us alone, or are we just waiting for the persistent harassment to begin? I have no intention of spending any of our money to contact them.

I'd recommend steering clear of them entirely. Even the slightest response could be viewed as an admission of owing something, whether it's unintentional or on purpose. Better to keep your distance!

I’ve just received an SMS that looks exactly the same, referencing an account number and urging us to ring this number back. It’s rather peculiar since the internet suggests that Scotcall is some sort of computer company. Quite baffling, really!
