These callers just want to catch you off guard by asking quick, simple stuff then suddenly cutting the call. Afterwards, you get bombarded with loads of other cold calls from different places, like someone trying to sell washing machine insurance (apparently from M&S), or mortgage or ppi offers (from Nationwide). It’s pretty clear that the info from that first call gets passed around to others. I mean, seriously, why would M&S be calling about washing machines? They only use the name because it’s well known and people will recognise it.
