A chap with an accent reminiscent of India rang me up, claiming to be from Amazon. He was going on about two suspicious transactions on "my card" - one for a £300 gift card and another for an iPhone, both supposedly processed in "the Manchester" (a place where I certainly don’t reside). I bombarded him with questions: "Which card was charged?", "What address did they use for these purchases?", and "Why is it that Amazon is calling from a mobile number beginning with 07?" His answers were rather flimsy, and he seemed increasingly worried that I might be a victim of some cybercriminal, especially when I mentioned that I usually hand over my card details to anyone who asks. I kept him chatting for ages (I've got plenty of spare time). In the end, he hung up on me, hurling insults like, "Why do you ask such daft questions? You're quite the idiot!" I never thought I’d encounter such rude customer service from Amazon.
