Got a call from this ‘ppi reclaim’ firm claiming I’d taken a loan in 2005, which I definitely didn’t. They listed all the loan details and insisted I could claim compensation. They even guided me on what answers to give the claims assessor to guarantee success. But when I asked for their company info, they suddenly got really cagey, said they’d ring back, then just hung up on me.

i reckon this is linked to marketing; plenty of people working from home get handed a mobile to ring up folks for various firms, which just feels like another way they bother you. a lot of times your number gets shared if youve put it anywhere online. if it’s not the usual call centres or street pitch people calling from hidden numbers, it’s now this sort of thing. sometimes it’s tricky too because they use a local landline number, so you think its someone you know.
