Got a call where no one spoke at all. Quite weird.

I got a few calls from a number claiming to be Nationwide. When I finally picked up, the guy knew my name and postcode, even had an idea of my age bracket, but then just dropped the call. Went straight to my bank afterwards and they confirmed it wasn’t them. They put a note on my account telling me to be cautious and asked for two forms of ID moving forward. Did the same with my other bank just to be on the safe side. Better to be careful than regret it later.

I got a missed call from this number, so on the second try I picked up but they just hung up straight away. Then they rang again but left no message. Weirdly, when I tried calling them back, it just didn’t ring at all. Seems pretty sketchy to me!

So now I save those numbers in my contacts with labels like ‘scam’ or ‘ppi’, that way I can spot them straight away and just ignore the call.

This morning I got a call from a nicely spoken guy with an Indian accent who already had my phone number and postcode. He was asking me about a nationwide mortgage, but I was busy with work so I just ended the call.

The caller said they were from Nationwide and started asking about my mortgage, even though I never have one. They already knew my name and postcode which was a bit unnerving. As soon as I told them I don’t have a mortgage, they just ended the call without another word.
