I picked up as I couldn’t find anything about the number online and thought it might be genuine, but it turned out to be a robocall with an American accent saying it was HMRC. They claimed a letter they’d sent me got sent back to them. The number didn’t seem linked to the official department at all, they wouldn’t be ringing from a mobile phone. So, I blocked and reported it straight away.

Got a call from some automated voice saying it was HMRC and I’m being prosecuted because of a letter that supposedly got sent back to them. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

I usually just ignore calls from numbers I don’t know, but for some reason I picked up this time. The voice was one of those automated ones, speaking with an American accent, saying they were from HMRC. They mentioned a letter they supposedly sent that I never got back and warned me about legal action. I ended up blocking the number and reporting it straight away.
