Got a call from someone claiming I was due £25,000 from some UK government pension scheme. They asked me to confirm my address, which was actually an outdated one. I challenged them, saying if they really were from the UK government, they’d know my current address and National Insurance number. They agreed and then surprisingly gave me an even older address, still insisting I could claim the £25k. I told them that wasn’t right and that the UK government would never ring me up on my mobile - only ever send official letters to my new address. After that, the line just went dead.
