I received a text from this number claiming, "Our records show you might be eligible for £3,750 due to an accident you’ve had. To claim at no cost, please reply with AID. If you wish to opt-out, simply text STOP." The thing is, I’ve never been in an accident, and this message was completely unsolicited. My concern is, if I respond to any part of it, will they then acknowledge my number as valid and continue to bug me relentlessly?

Absolutely, we encountered the same situation! We had a conversation on the 31st of October in 2009, and then again not long after, on the 22nd of November that same year. Quite strange, really! I received a text from this number that stated, "Our records suggest you could be eligible for £3750 due to an accident you had. To claim at no cost, reply with AID to this message. If you wish to opt out, text STOP." The thing is, I’ve not had any accident at all, and this message was completely unrequested. I’m a bit worried that if I reply, it might signal to them that this is a legitimate number, and then they'll just keep pestering me after that. What do you reckon?
