Got a message supposedly from my daughter saying she’d changed her number because her old phone broke. She said she needed some emergency cash. When I asked who the payment was going to, she gave the name Eugene Tenga and shared the account info. The sum she wanted was £1248.16. I couldn’t confirm my ID with the bank right away or pick up their call, so the transfer didn’t go through. Later, when I rang the bank using a number they provided, I discovered it was all a con. Thankfully, my ID issues ended up protecting me from being tricked.
