Got a call saying I owed some Inland Revenue taxes on my PPI refund, which is nonsense because I never even received a PPI payment. Total rubbish, I just blocked the number straight away. These people are definitely scammers, beware!

I got a call from someone claiming to be with the National Gateway Agency about helping me claim a PPI tax refund from HMRC. They knew my name and my mobile number but the address they had on file was way off, and the info about the PPI was wrong too. It definitely feels like a scam to me, so I just blocked the number. I could hear other voices talking in the background, sounds like a call centre. If it’s a con, it’s pretty well put together and they’re probably targeting loads of people with it.

Someone rang me saying they were from some ‘National Gateway Service’ about a PPI refund I supposedly got and hadn’t declared on my taxes - which is rubbish, as I never got any. It sounded dodgy right away, especially since they were calling from a mobile number, not a proper office line. I strongly reckon it’s a scam. They said they had my email, so I told them to send me the details by email and I’d reply if needed. Definitely watch out for calls like this!
