I recently received a text saying we 'may be eligible for £3,700 in compensation for an accident we supposedly just experienced' (which is peculiar since I haven’t had an accident at all, and I’m baffled as to how they acquired our phone number). It instructed us to send a message with 'quit' to their number if we wanted to unsubscribe. We complied, but now I can’t shake off the feeling that this could be a scam in itself.

I recently received a text saying we could potentially claim £3,700 in compensation for an accident we supposedly experienced (which is news to me as I haven't had any such incident!) To add to the mystery, I have no idea how they managed to get hold of my number. The message instructed us to text "quit" to their number if we wished to unsubscribe, which we promptly did. Now, I'm left feeling anxious that the whole thing might be a scam in itself.
