This number rang me up and there was a woman on the line, although it sounded a bit like one of those robotic American voices. She claimed to be from HMRC and mentioned something about a tax issue, but I couldn’t catch the exact details. She said I was facing prosecution and if I wanted to talk to someone, I should press 1. I quickly ended the call since I suspected it was a scam - from what I know, HMRC usually contacts folks by post first if there’s any problem with tax matters, and they talk it through before going any further.
