‭07758 734587‬ rang saying they were from the well-known debt charity StepChange. However, I know StepChange never use a mobile number to call. I’m actually already signed up with StepChange, and this person had no clue about that. Plus, StepChange wouldn’t just ring you out of the blue trying to push an IVA. They don’t cold call, and they always help you find the best debt solution instead of forcing an IVA on you. The caller kept trying to dodge my questions but just made themselves look worse. This company is really dodgy. Don’t trust them, they’re definitely not StepChange.

I just got a call from these dodgy scammers. Honestly, phone companies need to step up and do a lot more to keep us safe from these fraudsters. Maybe it's worth checking with your provider if you can switch your number and go ex-directory or keep it private. Then just share the new one with close family and your best friends. Not sure if it really helps, but fingers crossed none of you fall for their tricks. Good luck out there!

But then he called back straight away, asking for another name. I told him again he had the wrong number and to stop ringing, then hung up. He rang once more, I picked up but just stayed silent and put the phone down until he gave up and ended the call. No more calls after that.

They ring me loads during the week, always from different UK mobiles so blocking doesn’t do much since they just switch numbers. Most times they stay silent, which makes me think there’s one person calling loads of folks at once and when someone picks up, they cut the other calls to boost their odds. When they actually speak, they never get my name right - they use my middle name as my first and butcher my last name completely. Maybe it’s a good idea to chat with my network provider to find out if they can do anything to help?

Got a call from an Indian bloke claiming to be from a finance advice office. He said there’s some government program to help clear all my debts. Told him I got no debts and asked to be taken off their list. He said fine but then just left me hangin’ on the line so I ended up hanging up!

They called me by my name and claimed to be from the Financial Advice Bureau, saying they could help clear my debts with a government plan. I’ve had loads of calls from different numbers which I’ve blocked, but I don’t even owe any money. How are they getting my details? I’m really annoyed now and reckon I’ll report them.
