Somebody rang me saying they were from HMRC, threatening me with tax fraud and an arrest warrant. Honestly, who at HMRC uses a mobile number and an automated voice for something like that? It was pretty clear it was a scam, but I can see how people might panic. HMRC always sends letters if there’s an issue, they don’t phone you. They told me to press ‘1’ to continue - yeah right, that’s just a trick to steal your bank details. Proper dodgy and risky stuff.
