This bloke phoned me with an Asian accent, saying he needed to chat about my supposed debts. I asked him how he even got my number, but all he kept repeating was about the debts. I asked again where he found my number, and he got quite rude, telling me to answer his question instead. So I told him no, he should answer mine. Then he just told me to F##K off and ended the call.

Got a call today from a guy with an accent saying he was from Citizens Advice, telling me I had some unpaid debts. I said I had none, but he kept insisting that his manager, someone named Maddie or similar, told him I owed £5000. I kept telling him I didn’t owe anything and then he asked if I wanted to chat to his boss, saying he was very nice. I said sure, he put me on hold, and I just ended the call. Total scam.

The person on the phone knew my name and claimed to be from the credit investigations team at the financial conduct authority. I asked him to provide a number I could ring back on. He first tried to give me a mobile number, so I requested a landline instead, and he told me an 0161 number. When I asked for a reference number, he just said okay. Then I asked what the call was regarding, and he mentioned my unsecured debt. When I said I didn’t owe anything, he hung up straight away.

He even claimed my partner was at some bar in London with another woman - and my partner was right there beside me! It took them forever just to start talking, and even longer between sentences.
