On 18/2/2019 at about 1:50 pm, I also got a message saying HMRC was giving me a refund of £265.84.

Just like all the ones I’ve seen, they said they were from HMRC telling me there’s a tax refund waiting and then gave a website link. Definately don’t trust it, it’s got scam written all over it!

Got a call saying I was owed a tax refund which felt a bit dodgy. Turns out it was a scam. The tax office would never ask you to use a [###] website. Best to avoid these calls altogether.

Got a text saying I’m due a tax refund of £265.84 from HMRC and to claim it, click a link: [#]uk-govrefund[###]. Message came through at 4:16pm on 18/2/2019. Sounds totally dodgy! Since when did the tax office start hitting up people on their mobiles like that? Nah, no way I’m falling for that crap.

Got a text from this number saying I was owed a tax refund. There was a link in the message, but I steered clear of it. Too many dodgy scams going around these days to risk clicking on anything like that. Safe to say I didn’t fall for it.
