I received a rather dubious text that claimed: "According to our records, you could be eligible for £5000 in compensation regarding an accident you've supposedly had. To initiate your claim, simply reply with CLAIM. To opt out, text STOP." The catch is, I’ve never had any accident! Who are these jokers and how on earth did they manage to get hold of my number?

Received a message today that sounded just like the one mentioned earlier. It read, "We believe you could be eligible for £5000 in compensation for the accident you experienced. To proceed with your claim, simply reply CLAIM to this text. If you wish to opt out, just text STOP." We decided against replying, as we really don’t want to go through the hassle of changing our phone number. This sort of thing is becoming rather bothersome now, to say the least.
