Got a recorded call about some unpaid HMRC tax bill, asking me to press 1 to talk to someone. The number was totally new to me, and it screamed scam from the start. I actually used to work for HMRC, so trust me when I say they'd never ring you from a mobile phone. Plus, the message had this American accent, which was a dead giveaway that it’s just some dodgy outfit too cheap to get proper UK English voice software. Definitely not legit.
