If I don’t recognise the number, I just don’t pick up - that’s exactly what I did with this one. No voicemail was left, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now.

I got a call from someone saying they were from British Gas. They somehow already had my name and asked me to verify it. I didn't, so they just ended the call. Strange, right?

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent, they knew my name and said they were from British Gas.

Got a call from someone saying they were British Gas. I didn't go along with her questions, and when I asked for proof she was legit, she just ended the call. Total scam if you ask me.
