Someone rang me saying they were from Microsoft, telling me that my PC had got a harmful download.

Fingers crossed it was just an accident and not someone trying to do harm.

There was a long pause, then I could hear a busy call centre buzzing in the background. The caller said, "Hi, this is Microsoft, we need to talk about your PC." I just said, "Yeah, no you're not," and cut them off. Pretty sure it was a scam, maybe even some kind of fraud.
