This scam always tricks people by pretending to be a mate needing cash for something like hospital TV or a cab fare. Once they get the money, that's when the real trouble begins! I've shared info down below about how to report these scams. If you don't let anyone know, they just keep happening, and some poor folks end up with empty bank accounts because they didn't know any better.

At first, I just figured it was a random wrong number and replied saying they must have the wrong person. But then I found out it was actually some weird scam. My husband got the exact same message too, and I can’t for the life of me understand how people manage to scam others through texts like this. There’s some awful people out there. I really believe in karma though, what you put out will eventually come back to you.

I got a text from someone saying it was Emma and not to worry, she'd had a fall and was at the hospital. They asked me to reply if I saw the message soon. Felt fishy because I don’t know anyone called Emma at all. Probably just a scam.

As soon as I picked up, the call just got cut off straight away.

Yeah, this is totally dodgy. Got a message saying "It's Emma, don't worry. I've fallen and I'm at the hospital now. If you see this soon, please reply." Problem is, I have no clue who Emma is or this number at all. If you respond or ring back, they just keep pestering you non-stop. Proper annoying scam.
