My mum nearly got tricked into handing over £2000 because someone called pretending to be me. They said their phone had stopped working and it was actually me calling from a different number. Then they went on about me supposedly being in a massive debt and asked her to send money straight away. Luckily, she spotted something was off before doing anything.

Got a message from 07745788962 that said: “Hey mum, just letting you know I’ve smashed my phone screen by accident. I’m using an old phone right now. I would’ve called but the sound is awful, can’t make out a word. Send me a reply so I know you got this xx.” Definitely a scam.
