Got a message saying it was Lloyds Bank shutting down my mobile banking account because of some dodgy activity. Dumb me went ahead and clicked the link since it looked super legit, with the green and pale yellowish colours. I’d already put in my bank details by then. It took ages to load, so I phoned the bank myself and they ended up freezing my account.

I received a text message on the 15th of March 2022 purporting to be from Santander, stating that a new payee, 'Mrs G Wilson,' had been added to my account at 4:19 PM. It said that if I didn't authorise this change, I should follow a link. I strongly advise against clicking on that link! Stay safe folks!

If you scroll down maybe 12 or 13 comments below this, you'll find detailed steps on how to put an end to these scam calls. It's not exactly easy and will require some work. I make sure to report every scam phone number straight to the police's database. As for scam emails, I always send them off to the government's phishing report site as recommended on the police action fraud page before deleting them - they even send back some stats which are quite revealing. Also, when I asked my MP about completely blocking all spoofed UK numbers, their response was quite surprising!
