My dad got a text message from someone pretending to be his daughter, asking for money to be sent to a bank account. The message said something like: Hi dad, remember me, your favourite and eldest daughter? I’ve got a payment to make today but can’t do it until my new phone number is linked with my bank. Can you please send the money for me if I send you the info? I’ll pay you back tomorrow. The amount was £950. Very sneaky!

Got a text saying “DAD save this new number +447742654625” - rang around my family and no one was using that number. Definitely a scam in my book. Didn’t call it straight away, thought I’d do some digging first and checked this site too. It’s obvious they’re trying to play on your feelings. Would be daft to call as it just tells them your phone’s live and could be hacked. Avoid!

Got a text just now claiming to be my dad with a "new number." Pretty sure it’s just someone trying to scam me.
