Some bloke called saying he was from Visa, claimed there was a payment of £900 waiting and asked if I wanted to cancel it.

Got a message saying “Emma fell and waiting for surgery, signal’s patchy here, just text me.” Honestly, I’m baffled and annoyed trying to figure out who this Emma is. I don’t know anyone by that name so I’ve just blocked the number. Emma, if you somehow see this, please quit it - you’re causing a right headache, so just stay put in hospital and get sorted out.

Seems like Emma’s quite unlucky these days, she managed to have another tumble earlier today. Feel sorry for her. Maybe I’ll drop her a message asking if she’s in need of a full-time helper - surely all these falls aren’t doing her any favours 😂

Got a message late on 22nd December 2019, around 11:30pm, saying "It's Emma. Tried calling but no signal. I fell and ended up in hospital tonight. Can you do me a quick favour and text me back?" I didn't recognise the name and asked her who she was, her last name, and how she knew me. She just kept sending the same thing three times, always "It's Emma!", but never actually asked for anything. Not quite sure what the scam was meant to be about!

Got a message from someone called Emma saying she'd fallen, just like others have mentioned. Although we do know an Emma, this wasn’t the right number for her. Looked it up on this site and decided to block the number. Honestly, not sure what they hope to achieve with this kind of scam!

Just like a lot of folks, I got a bit wary since the number didn't show up in my contacts. I've gone ahead and blocked it now!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Emma, said her last name started with a T. She asked me to send a code for a £20 phone voucher. I actually know an Emma with the last initial T, so for a moment I thought it was legit and almost called back. It's crazy that O2 can’t seem to stop these scammers before they trick someone for real.

Hey, it’s Emma here. I was trying to ring you but the signal kept cutting out. I ended up in hospital after a fall earlier today. Could you do me a quick favour and send me a text? I know loads of Emmas and have their numbers too, but they’re much better at texting and English than me. Cheers x

I got the same texts as before. I thought it might be from my mate Emma but the number didn’t match what I had saved for her. When I got back home, I looked up the number here on this site and it cleared things up. Cheers for having this service. 'who-called[###][###]'

If more folks just bothered to open bank accounts, we might not have to deal with this rubbish so much! It’d really cut down on all these dodgy calls and scams, I reckon.

This morning I got something similar! Got a text from Emma but she’s actually poorly at the moment 😷 so I just assumed it was her messaging me from the hospital. I snapped screenshots and sent them over to O2 through Facebook.

I got in touch with a mate, told them I’d shattered a few bones, needed an oxygen boost and was about to have surgery - total rubbish! Then I got this strange message asking if I wanted info about some odd fund offering cash, obviously said no thanks!

This one’s a classic, you know, just with different names every time. Lately, there’s one going about where some “mate overseas” is supposedly strapped for cash. Total nonsense, really.

Last night I got a text like that, and since I have a mate called Emma who uses pay-as-you-go, I got tricked by this scam twice, honestly! They then claimed the first lot of credit disappeared due to extras and asked me to send more money, and stupidly I fell for it 'cause I was worried my friend would feel daft. Normally, I’d check this forum first, but I didn’t this time. Just hoping no one else gets caught out by these dodgy lot! I’m properly annoyed about it now, and I don’t even recognise the numbers.

On the 14th of May 2019 at 5:31 pm GMT, I got a text saying "it's Emma. Tried calling but my signal's rubbish. I've been in hospital after a fall today. Can you do me a favour? x" When I asked which Emma it was, the reply was "it's Emma T x". I don't know anyone by that name and I've seen other people mention similar scams on here with different numbers. Looks like the fibbers often want you to buy phone vouchers. Watch out everyone!
