I got a call claiming to be from HMRC, but it was clearly a scam. It was one of those automated messages saying that some letter had been sent back and that I needed to provide my info to get it resent. Then it went on about owing money and possible court action. The first red flag for me was it said "her majesty" instead of "his majesty," which makes no sense. Also, why on earth would HMRC ring your mobile rather than a landline or official number? Best to just hang up and not press any buttons.
