I got a text from 07739 703244 saying something like: "Hi Dad, my phone and SIM are broken, can you text me back? This is my new number, can you ping me on WhatsApp? It’s urgent x". Since there was no name, and I’ve seen similar dodgy messages before, I asked my daughters (I’m 68 but fairly good with tech) via WhatsApp if their phones were alright. Turns out everything’s fine with them - it’s definitely a scam. So, a word of advice: don’t reply to messages or calls from unknown numbers, especially those urgent ones that don’t give a proper name. Stay safe!
