So I got a recorded message saying that HMRC had received a returned letter about some legal issue they claimed was against me, asking me to press one to get in touch with someone. When I pressed one, a guy picked up and asked me for a reference number. Since I didn’t have it, he looked it up himself and told me there was a case against me for avoiding tax. I just told him straight off that I knew it was a scam and ended the call.
