I got a voicemail claiming that HMRC received a letter back about some case they supposedly opened against me. It asked me to press one to get in touch with an official. When I did, a guy came on the line and wanted a reference number. I didn’t have it, so he looked up some details and told me I was being investigated for tax evasion. I just told him straight away that it was clearly a con and ended the call.
