Got a missed call earlier and since my dad just got discharged from hospital, I assumed it might be the district nurse, so I called back. A woman with an Irish accent answered and said she hadn’t phoned anyone. I told her I just called her number straight away, but she insisted she hadn’t made any calls.

I got a call from 07736170278 that was clearly a scam. I didn’t give my name and after a brief pause, this recorded voice started saying she was from HMRC. She claimed there was an issue with my tax return and threatened I’d be arrested if I didn’t press 1 to speak to a tax adviser straight away. Of course, I just hung up without saying anything or pressing any buttons. Since I’ve been retired for over a decade and haven’t had to file a tax return in years, I’m not really worried about any arrest.
