This number isn’t worth ringing back, just a recorded voice... total scam!

I got a call from this number claiming to be Virgin Media, and since I was already dealing with VM on my own, I thought it was legit. They almost had me handing over control of my laptop and clearing out my account. Their spiel was really slick and believable. If this number rings you, just hang up straight away!

Got a few missed calls lately and decided to look them up here. Turns out they were dodgy, so I’ve blocked them now. Big thanks to everyone sharing details about these fraudsters, really helpful!

They were claiming to be from Amazon about some iPhone I supposedly ordered. It's a pity there's no proper word for these kinds of con artists!

Someone rang me claiming to be from Amazon, telling me there was an attempt to purchase an iPhone using my account. They said a code had been sent to my phone by ‘Amazon’ and even mentioned my email address. They wanted me to share the code, but when I didn’t, they got really annoyed and called me childish 🙄 That’s when I knew it was a con. I could even hear other people in the background reading from the same script. If I’d given them that code, they’d have had the chance to reset my Amazon password and take over my account.

They never mention which Visa card they’re talking about, just tell you there’s a big payment pending. Then they want you to press 1 if you want to stop it. Honestly, don’t hit 1 at all, just end the call straight away.

Complete con, pretending to handle bank PPI claims and telling me they’d secured £2550 compensation plus £1550 interest from my bank. When I asked if they knew my bank, I told them it was “Bank of Paris” (which isn’t real), and they didn’t catch on. They then handed me a reference and ID number, insisting they don’t require any card or bank details, and mentioned the money would be in a wallet. After that, they passed me onto another caller with an Asian accent. He asked for the ID and reference numbers, which I deliberately made up. More to come...

Got a call from someone I didn’t recognise saying £900 had been taken from my bank account, and to “press one for help.” I looked at my bank app and there was no such charge at all. It was all rubbish. I’ve blocked the number and reported it. Watch out for these scammers!

Avoid answering calls from people claiming to be from random companies, especially if they want your bank info. A lot of these scams come from overseas, often from people trying to steal your details. Usually, if the number begins with +44, it's not a normal phone call but some kind of automated scam. Just hang up and don’t trust anything they say. Also, if you get these suspicious calls, make sure to report them to phishing.gov.uk or text ‘dall’ to 7726. Best to just ignore and stay safe!

Got a call from this number and it was one of those automated messages claiming to be from Visa. Said someone was trying to withdraw £999 from my account and if it wasn’t me I should press a number to cancel it. I just ended the call right away because it sounded dodgy to me!

I just received a message claiming that an attempt was made to withdraw £999 from my bank account. If I didn't authorise it, I was instructed to reply to halt the transaction. It's pretty obvious this is a scam call, so don’t let yourself be misled!
