I received a rather concerning call today, purporting to be from the National Crime Agency. They mentioned something about my national insurance number being misused illegally. They instructed me to dial a specific number to get in touch with an agent. Quite unsettling, to say the least!

keeps ringing me up, saying my national insurance number got used in some fraud thing and now it's supposedly been cancelled. really annoying!

Got a dodgy text claiming to be Royal Mail, saying I'd missed a postage payment. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from this number asking loads about my mobile contract, sounded dodgy to me. Definitely felt like a scam!

They rang me but didn’t say anything, no message left. After reading what others said here, I’m definitely putting them on my block list.

I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was ringing from the hospital nearby, asking if I'd got my first vaccine yet. When I asked him “can you prove you’re from Ninewells?” he just ended the call straight away. Bit dodgy if you ask me!

Someone called claiming to be from the NHS, just checking if I’d got my vaccine or not.

Random call from a number I didn’t recognise popped up on my phone and I just let it ring out to voicemail straight away. They didn’t bother leaving any message, so I went ahead and blocked the number now.

I received a phone call from a chap, presumably of Asian descent, who asserted he was representing Ninewells hospital, which is the one I usually visit. He inquired whether I’d received my first vaccine dose. I replied that the hospital must already have that info in their records. When I pressed him on how I could verify he was genuinely from Ninewells, he abruptly ended the call. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

Got a call from a person saying they were with the NHS.

Got a call from someone claiming to be NHS, they asked if I had covid and then suddenly started asking questions about my life insurance. Strange right?

Got a really irritating call from this number. Rang them back but no one picked up. Ended up blocking it.

I answered and gave my name as Miss Stake. When he asked for my address, I made one up - Make Believe Cottage, Fairy Tale Lane, Gnome Hamlet. He didn’t like that and just ended the call. Such a killjoy!

Had a call saying it was from an NHS covid service. They wanted to know if I was showing any symptoms. Then they started asking about my family too. I said I wasn’t comfortable with the call or answering questions, and suddenly the person just hung up on me.

Then she started asking about life insurance which felt really dodgy. I ended the call straight away and blocked the number. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the NHS about a Covid update. I answered since I’ve been registered on test and trace and he asked a few questions. But then suddenly he started asking about life insurance stuff, which seemed off, so I ended the call. The accent was strong, maybe Indian given how quickly and oddly he spoke. Felt fishy, so I just hung up.

I received a dodgy call purportedly from the NHS, where the caller was inquiring about my Covid status and whether I'd received my vaccination. I received a phone call supposedly from ‘NHS’ inquiring about my COVID vaccination. They claimed to be calling from a modest office in the basement of the Queen Elizabeth. If memory serves me right, that basement is actually a restaurant! The caller was rather pushy and seemed to know my name, which raised all sorts of red flags for me. Definitely smells like a scam, if you ask me!

At that point, I told them they were scammers and just ended the call.

Alan had a bit of a struggle with my last name, which is always a bonus of having one that’s not exactly straightforward. From the start, it felt like a dodgy call, especially when he mentioned he was representing the Covid-19 unit of the NHS.

The individual on the other end kept pressing me to verify my identity, but I made it clear that he'd have to share his name with me before I'd entertain any exchange. Once I stood my ground, he hung up in a hurry. It's a brilliant tactic for terminating dodgy calls and then promptly barring the number from future annoyance.

Seems like she was just fishing for information for a sales pitch, or perhaps even running a scam!

When I mentioned that it seemed rather odd, considering I’m an NHS nurse myself and was under the impression that such updates weren’t conducted via phone, they abruptly ended the call! How very suspicious!

Received a call from an unfamiliar number that I didn't recognise. Thankfully, I had the sense not to pick up!

This evening, just after six, I received a rather dodgy call from someone purporting to be from the NHS headquarters in Richmond, London. She claimed they were in the process of updating their records and proceeded to inquire about the number of residents at my address, as well as whether anyone had life insurance and which company was behind the policy. It was all rather suspicious, especially when she mentioned that the NHS was planning to take legal action against life insurers that did not provide coverage for Covid-related fatalities. I decided to keep her on the line as long as possible, figuring that if I was engaging her in conversation, she wouldn’t have the chance to scam someone more vulnerable. She had a distinct foreign accent and was incredibly relentless in her questioning! At one point, when I kept pressing for answers about why she was using a mobile phone for such an important matter, she became quite irate. I couldn't help but chuckle - didn’t the NHS have any landlines? In the end, she hung up when she realised I wasn’t falling for her ruse. Just a word of caution to everyone: stay savvy and don't let these scammers get one over on you!
