I got a recorded call claiming to be from National Insurance saying something like, “Your National Insurance Number is going to be suspended because it’s connected to lots of suspicious crimes. You need to get in touch right away or it’ll be blocked. Press 1 to speak to an agent.” They kept repeating “press 1 to speak to an agent.” I just hung up straight away. I’m pretty sure if I’d pressed 1, it would have forwarded me to a premium line with more recorded messages, and I’d have ended up with a massive phone bill that only benefited the scammers.
