Got a call from a lady named Vicky using this number, saying she’s from the council tax office. She told me my last direct debit didn’t go through because my account didn’t have enough money and asked if I could pay over the phone. Problem is, I don’t have any direct debits set up for council tax, plus I’m on benefits so my council tax is already covered. Definitely a scam trying to trick folks!

Actually, Tesco shops do call from mobile numbers sometimes, so it’s likely the online team ringing you because your card might not have gone through. The simplest thing to do is ring their 0800 customer service line, and they can connect you to the shop handling your order. They only send emails like that if the store can’t reach you and asks customer service to get in touch by email instead.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Tesco about my card not working after a grocery shop, asking me to call them back on this number to fix it. Felt dodgy straight away because Tesco would’ve sent an email if there was a problem. I rang Tesco myself and they told me they never get in touch with customers using mobile numbers. So yeah, watch out for this, it’s definitely a scam.
