Hi, I received a text today from number (07784831675) saying it was a FINAL NOTICE from DVLA Swansea. I’m pretty sure it’s not legit coz I pay my tax disc by direct debit. If this is a scam, watch out, because if you ring them back on your mobile, you might get stuck.

Hi, I got a text today (15 Feb 18) from a number I didn’t recognise, 07423 517948, saying it was a FINAL NOTICE from the DVLA and that they’ve been trying to reach me. The message had a link to click for more info: http://tax-disc.gov.uk.dvla.sat2.pw/info.html. I really think the DVLA and Police need to step up and stop these sorts of scams before more people get caught out.

07512 106017 - My husband got a missed call from this number at 4 in the morning, then got a text saying it was a final warning and something about the DVLA trying to reach him. We both knew it was dodgy straight away since the DVLA wouldn’t call that early and they definitely wouldn’t use a mobile phone. It did freak him out a bit until I told him not to worry. Best thing is to just ignore it and never click any links they send.

SCAM ALERT: The DVLA never sends texts containing website links. Even if the message looks like it's got a ".gov.uk" address, the real domain is at the very end, like ".pw," which is for a Pacific island far from Swansea. If you check the tracing, the site goes through the Netherlands but probably is hosted somewhere else. Be careful and think twice before clicking.
