I received a dodgy email pretending to be from BT the other day...

I received an email supposedly from "MSN UPDATE" on Friday, the 14th of June, 2024, at 23:15. It stated: "Dear Valued Customer, A new voice message awaits you: From: 07715 397670 Date Received: 14 June 2024 Duration: 00:59 Listen & Preview Thank you for choosing Microsoft." However, Outlook flagged it as JUNK. I almost got tempted to reply since I’m with TalkTalk for my Broadband but thankfully this site has classed it as a Broadband Scam. Phew!

Got an email supposedly from "Microsoft Desk" saying there was a new voice message waiting for me from this number. It had a blue link to "preview and listen" to the voicemail. I double-checked my phone's voicemail but couldn’t find any messages at all. Ended up just deleting the email.

This isn’t the first time I’ve received calls like this, and I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. I don’t even waste my time calling back, I just delete it straight away. I’d recommend others to do exactly that too.

So I got this email yesterday from an AOL address saying I had a new voicemail. Then today, I got the exact same message, but it was from a yahoo.com email instead. It looked a bit dodgy, saying something like: Dear User, You’ve got a new voice message: From: 07715 397670 Received: 09 April 2024 Length: 00:39 Preview & Listen Thanks for using British Telecomm plc. Pretty sure it’s a scam, so watch out if you get anything like this!

Sounds dodgy to me. They said they were from BT about some voicemail, but I wouldn’t trust it. Might be one of those scams.

I received an email purporting to be from BT, insisting I must click a link to access a voicemail message. I strongly advise against doing so; it’s likely a phishing attempt. Stay cautious!

Looks like a scam to me. I've gotten loads of fake voicemails by email before, but this is the first time they've included a full phone number. They claim to be from BT, but the sender's email is actually a TalkTalk address, probably compromised. Definitely avoid clicking on the link or entering any passwords.
